MY STORY

"If we never take a risk, we'll never know the parts of ourselves that would have emerged if we had."

Marianne Williamson

I am an emerging Canadian landscape artist located predominately in Northwestern Ontario. I am also a longtime chronic migraine sufferer. Each, for better and for worse, defines how I experience and interpret almost everything in my world. Like anyone with a chronic and unrelenting pain-in-the butt illness, some days are great, but far too many bring WAY too many challenges.

It is from this perspective I have been searching for years for respite and inspiration in nature, be it among the towering cliff-faces and outcroppings found across Canada, within the beauty and majesty of our numerous mountain ranges and forests, or among the lakes and islands of our Canadian Shield where I am lucky enough to spend most of my time. Inspiration to fuel my art practice but most importantly, inspiration for my pain journey that has the power to take so much of who I am and who I want to be.

The tenacity, solidity, determination and reinvention intrinsic to the Canadian landscape I love bring peace and beauty to my world. But more so, it grounds my faith in the virtue of perseverance and the hope born through simply just weathering the storm. I hope my interpretation of our Canadian landscape will bring a little of that to you.
